Faramarz Bakhtiar
The Bakhtiary tribe is composed of two main branches.
A - Haftlang
B - Charlang
The Ilkhan is the great khan who has the both branches under influence.
The Ilbaghi is the Ilkhan’s deputy; they have the highest rank in tribal hierarchy, and are recognized by the central government and had a sort of autonomy in the region.
Every branch has its own subgroup which is called Tayefe; every Tayefe has its own khan.
The khan’s deputy is called klantar. These leaders form the administrative body of tribal structure which was responsible for the tribal affairs and tribal diplomacy regarding the central government and the other regional powers and the colonial powers of the time.
The main task of this regional governorship was to provide troops and to gather taxes for the central state. During the war, khans act as a military leader. Bakhtiary khans fought against Russians for almost 20 years in the northern boarders of Iran, and in Iran, they have always opposed the Iranian communist party ´´Tude Party´´. For this historical challenge, the hostilities still exist.
Every Tayefe, has it’s subgroup of TIREH, every tireh, has subgroup of MAL, every mal has subgroups of TASH, every tash has subgroup of FAMILY.
